  • Art Prints

Art prints are multiples of the same artwork, created through a printing technique, by a machine. The original piece is digitized, usually by scan or photograph, resulting in an digital image. The image is then the source to print an art print as either a limited edition or mass production. Where an original painting is one of a kind, art prints are usually available by the many. An original painting is hand-made, where art prints are printed, by a machine. Art prints are usually flat, colored with ink, where an original painting has a real surface texture, which derive from the brushstrokes the artist produced while painting and due to the thickness of the (acrylic) paint. An original catches the light in a unique way because of the texture of the paint on its substrate. An original painting is unique and indeed, an investment. Art prints tend to be more affordable.

  • A certificate of authenticity (CoA) is a document stating the facts about the artwork and confirming it's authenticity as an original.

Every painting I sell includes a Certificate of Authenticity. In case you are interested in buying a painting, you should always ask for and verify the Certificate of Authenticity to confirm that the artwork is original, authentic. You should always try to verify the validity of any artwork you want to buy. The CoA can help you with this.

Certificate’s of authenticity as they come with a Glen Thymmis Wesley original painting are consisting out of two (2) documents, the CoA AID and the CoA OID, together are these the CoA.

  • The certificate of authenticity is an identification document, identifying the artwork. Certificate’s of authenticity as they come with a Glen Thymmis Wesley original painting are consisting out of two (2) documents.

One document helps to identify the artwork and helps to verify it’s authenticity, this document is the CoA AID (Artwork IDentification). The second document is to help establish the owner of the artwork, this document is the CoA OID (Ownership Identification).

The CoA AID document is send with the painting, this helps customs to verify it’s authenticity. The CoA OID document is send separately to confirm ownership of the painting. Both documents together are the CoA. The CoA AID should be kept with the artwork, where the CoA OID should be kept in a safe and secure space to prevent art theft.

  • The CoA is created only one time. As it is a unique document which helps to identify the painting, it is not possible to recreate this document. Recreating the CoA will result in loss of the value of each CoA. The CoA is part of the artwork and should therefor be safeguarded for damage and loss. Just like I can not create the same work twice, I will not recreate the CoA. This ensures buyers of my paintings to be sure that there aren’t two of the same and therefor the validity of the document is more reliable.

  • Shipping

Artworks are fragile and require careful handling. Yet most freighters and couriers can be quite rough on packages. Therefor it would be preferred to use specialized art transporters, if you prefer to use a fine art logistics company of your choice or ship the paintings your self, please let me know. For Fine Art transports I expect the buyer to make the arrangements for shipping and packaging, if preferred, I can offer the art work prepacked and ready for shipping.

As I understand this is too expensive for the masses, therefor I offer standard shipping by default. I do my best on packaging the paintings in such a manner that they are protected against normal wear and tear of the mechanical challenges that may occur during shipment. Climatic influences are more difficult to tackle, as only conditioned shipping can provide a predictable climate. Also border security may impose some rules we have to follow. Border security may scan your package or even open it to inspect the contents. There is nothing I can do to prevent this and the following damages that may occur I deem the risk of the buyer. Specialized Fine Art logistics companies might be able to prevent or circumvent some of these limitations or consequences, but default shipping can not.

If you prefer a certain logistics company or solution, please communicate this with me before you finalize the buy. If you want to secure a certain painting, while checking your options, let me know as soon as possible.

  • I tent to send within 8 days of when the payment has been received. I have very little or no influence over when a package arrives.

Some logistics companies do offer some sort of indication or influence for the delivery times for the receiver. Please check at the shipping company for the possibilities.

It is possible in some situations to send packages with priority shipping, this results in a better prediction of when a package arrives, but introduces additional cost and isn’t available for most paintings (mostly due to size and weight restrictions).

For exact delivery times, you can consider Fine Art logistics companies or use your own courier, but both can be costly and this may be out of your reach.

    Related:

  • As every country or region may have their own set of rules you must be aware of when sending and receiving packages across the border. I assume there are no limitations on shipments to your location when you order with me and rely on you to inform me if restrictions may apply in your situation. If there are restrictions for instance on importing cardboard, paper or wood, rice or packing peanuts, I need to know in advance before shipping to you. If you inform me on before hand I might be able to address most or all of the special requirements dictated by your local authorities and circumstances.

By default I already try to tackle most problems that frequently happen by providing adequate packaging materials and techniques. Yet shippers may inflict damages to your package. Make sure to at least check your package exterior and look for signs of potential damages before accepting or signing for reception. Most logistics companies consider you accepted the state package AS IS and no longer accept claims once you accepted the package. Make your concerns clear before accepting or signing anything. If any damages are detected or if in any doubt, communicate your concerns with the delivery person, if possible check whether the contents are intact and unharmed. If applicable please let the shipping company confirm their responsibility and consider your options.

  • When you order a painting or maybe more then one painting, which you receive from across borders, then it is likely that your package is required to meet the rules for inspection, import and taxes or other fees may apply. You might even need a permit to receive the painting or packaging materials. Make sure you inform yourself on the national and regional laws, rules and restrictions, before ordering a painting. And make sure to inform me of any special needs. Which can be packaging materials, canvas only shipment, or documents. An additional fee for handling, packaging or documentation may apply.

Special needs may include: absorption materials for humidity, limitation on used materials or inspection friendly packaging or special documentation. Please contact me to inform me on beforehand and communicate the details.
