Some essential information about Art by Glen Thymmis in a short overview.

Light is everywhere we see, if it wasn't there to reflect on matter, then we would not be able to see the matter. I love what light can do to our senses, how light influences what we feel and think. How light colors everything and plays with us. Every color is light, as is every shape. I get inspired by only the thought of this common source of live.

What is lit increases in importance and what lays in the shade seems to be of less interest, for some perhaps even scary. The sheer amount of emotions that are related to our visual experiences and train of thought, makes me humble and at the same time makes me wonder why we do what we do. What is so clear to me seems so different to others.

Everyone has their own reality, thoughts and feelings, all influenced by our senses. It interests me to play with shades and shapes and experience what it does for me and relate this to the experience of others. I like to experiment with color and nuances, trying to channel the train of thoughts and feelings in attempt to heal and let go, so I can become a better version of myself.

In every work of art the essence is left behind, an energy, that in a way captures the moment of creation. It makes me feel connected to the universe. May this energy, through my art, inspire you too!

The in 1980 Dutch born Glen Thymmis has an enormous drive to create. During his younger years he already was fascinated by the underlying architecture of life and physics. The effects of light and structure and their influences on mood and the life around it intrigued Glen Thymmis. As dust particles floating in the rays of the Sun and caustics refracting of the waterline showed him the size of the universe and a diversity of colors and forms, is Glen Thymmis emotionally stimulated to help others experience the intensity of color and shapes just as he does.

In his quest to heal and overcome his physical limitations, he is in a constant struggle to find balance. His dedication to grow as a person as well as an artist reflects in his art. He considers his works of art to be like the shed skin of a snake. It is in his intention for the beholder to be able to follow his story of emotions and states of mind, expressed in paint on canvas, as a means to be able to experience his path to heal and let go.

As an independent, Glen Thymmis mastered a multitude of disciplines over the years, from architecture, to programming and from web content creation to 3D animation. Which all contributed to him developing a special taste for pure art forms like fine art painting.

Glen Thymmis paints with brushes and the palette knife with acrylics on canvas. He uses hues and tints to represent and influence emotions. Although his abstract art is very personal and intimate to him, his goal is to share the experience.

Driven by pain, not aligned with society, Glen Thymmis grew up in conflict. Born in 1980 in a cold insensitive environment, in Twente, The Netherlands, the sensitive Glen Thymmis could not ground.

While his mother was unaware of being chronically ill, she gave birth to Glen Thymmis and his three sisters. While he and his siblings required more care then his parents could provide, found Glen Thymmis himself frequently struggling with their ‘tough love’.

Glen Thymmis found true love in his early teens, with his now wife, whom grew up in a group home. Which let to the young couple to live together before they hit their twenties and still in school.

Founding his own company in 2001, he forced himself to develop some business sense. While he spend all his energy in striving for perfection, in attempt to satisfy his clients, his body could not keep up. Letting him to collapse in 2013, where from he is still recovering.

During his years as self employed digital artist, he gained a lot of knowledge of commercial driven art forms. Yet he couldn’t self identify with this fast paced, money driven and power hungry industry. Glen Thymmis made as soon as he was able to, an 180 degree turn towards the emotion driven traditional fine arts. For him a path to find acceptance, a path of healing.

Glen Thymmis has over the years made many digital designs, which have sold all over the globe. Now with his new found passion he is focusing on what he describes as ‘going back to the roots of nature’ in his attempt to create a more sustainable combination of life and living. And as he puts it, ‘it is in his blood’ to create and therefor he paints.

As Glen Thymmis is according to him ‘painting from his emotional connection to the universe’, he seems to use his life path as source of inspiration to create art. His way to feel, cope and heal.

On the surface his art varies from very intense hues and strong contrasts to very faint fine detailed subtleties in desaturated palettes. His works reflects his inner fights with his colorful life experience, yet to experience them as he intends them, you may have to go deep.

Art prints are multiples of the same artwork, created through a printing technique, by a machine. The original piece is digitized, usually by scan or photograph, resulting in an digital image. The image is then the source to print an art print as either a limited edition or mass production. Where an original painting is one of a kind, art prints are usually available by the many. An original painting is hand-made, where art prints are printed, by a machine. Art prints are usually flat, colored with ink, where an original painting has a real surface texture, which derive from the brushstrokes the artist produced while painting and due to the thickness of the (acrylic) paint. An original catches the light in a unique way because of the texture of the paint on its substrate. An original painting is unique and indeed, an investment. Art prints tend to be more affordable.

By default the fine art paintings will be shipped as a bare stretched canvas without a frame or hanging materials. There are many different materials and methods to hang a painting and depending on the situation you may require different materials to hang a painting.

In some situations it may be required or prefered to send only the canvas, without the stretcher bars. In such cases, the canvas must be restretched upon arrival.

Materials to hang a painting can be found at any decent frame maker, arts & crafts stores or do-it-yourself shops. When you buy a painting at the gallery, feel free to ask about how to hang the painting.

By default the fine art paintings will be shipped as a bare stretched canvas without a frame or hanging materials. As a frame is very personal and every situation may require a different frame, no frame is included.

Consider the materials (wood, metal, glass, synthetics), the colors, the texture and the shape and you soon realize there are many options to describe and pick the perfect frame for your fine art painting.

There are standard frames readily available for many small to medium sized paintings on canvas at frame makers, arts & crafts stores and home improvement retailers. For large paintings or a specific custom look and feel for any fine art painting, frames can be made at any decent frame maker.

A certificate of authenticity (CoA) is a document stating the facts about the artwork and confirming it's authenticity as an original.

Every painting I sell includes a Certificate of Authenticity. In case you are interested in buying a painting, you should always ask for and verify the Certificate of Authenticity to confirm that the artwork is original, authentic. You should always try to verify the validity of any artwork you want to buy. The CoA can help you with this.

The certificate of authenticity, as supplied with an original painting by Glen Thymmis Wesley, consists of two (2) documents, the CoA AID and the CoA OID, together these are the CoA.

The certificate of authenticity is an identification document that identifies the artwork. The Certificate of Authenticity as it comes with an original painting by Glen Thymmis Wesley consists of two (2) documents.

One document helps to identify the artwork and helps to verify it’s authenticity, this document is the CoA AID (Artwork IDentification). The second document is to help establish the owner of the artwork, this document is the CoA OID (Ownership Identification).

The CoA AID document is send with the painting, this helps customs to verify it’s authenticity. The CoA OID document is send separately to confirm ownership of the painting. Both documents together are the CoA. The CoA AID should be kept with the artwork, where the CoA OID should be kept in a safe and secure space to prevent art theft.

The CoA is created only one time. As it is a unique document which helps to identify the painting, it is not possible to recreate this document. Recreating the CoA will result in loss of value of each CoA. The CoA is part of the artwork and should therefor be safeguarded for damage and loss. Just like I can not create the same artwork twice, I will not recreate the CoA. This ensures buyers of my paintings to be sure that there aren’t two of the same and therefor the validity of the document is more reliable.

Artworks are fragile and require careful handling. Yet most freighters and couriers can be quite rough on packages. Therefor it would be preferred to use specialized art transporters, if you prefer to use a fine art logistics company of your choice or ship the paintings your self, please let me know. For Fine Art transports I expect the buyer to make the arrangements for shipping and packaging, if preferred, I can offer the art work prepacked and ready for shipping.

Yet this is not required for most shipments and imposes additional arrangements, added cost and delays. Therefor I offer standard shipping by default. I do my best on packaging the paintings in such a manner that they are protected against normal wear and tear of the mechanical challenges that may occur during shipment. Climatic influences are more difficult to tackle, as only conditioned shipping can provide a predictable climate.

Border security may also impose some rules we have to follow. Border security may scan your package or even open it to inspect the contents. There is nothing I can do to prevent this and the following damages that may occur I deem the risk of the buyer. Specialized Fine Art logistics companies might be able to prevent or circumvent some of these limitations or consequences, but default shipping can not.

When a painting, or several paintings are bought, there is some preparation involved to actually ship the fine art. The physical location may vary. Is the painting available at the gallery location you bought the fine art? Then it may ship fairly soon. If the painting is in local storage it may ship quite soon as well.

If the artwork is at an other gallery location, at the artist's studio, or an exhibition, then depending on where you bought the art, this may be halfway accross the world, it may take a fair bit longer to actually coordinate and ship the fine art out. Once shipped I have very little or no influence over when a package arrives.

Some logistics companies do offer some sort of indication or even influence for the delivery times for the receiver. Please check at the shipping company for the possibilities.

It is possible in some situations to send packages with priority shipping, this results in a better prediction of when a package arrives, but introduces additional cost and isn’t available for most paintings (mostly due to size and weight restrictions).

For exact delivery times, you can consider Fine Art logistics companies or use your own courier.

For more information, you can contact the gallery.

As every country or region may have their own set of rules you must be aware of when sending and receiving packages across the border. I assume there are no limitations on shipments to your location when you order with me and rely on you to inform me if restrictions may apply in your situation. If there are restrictions for instance on importing cardboard, paper or wood, rice or packing peanuts, I need to know in advance before shipping to you. If you inform me on before hand I might be able to address the special requirements dictated by your local authorities and circumstances.

By default I already try to tackle most problems that frequently happen by providing adequate packaging materials and techniques. Yet shippers may inflict damages to the package. Make sure to at least check the package exterior and look for signs of potential damages before accepting or signing for reception. Logistics companies may determine you accepted the state package AS IS and no longer accept claims once you have accepted the package. Make your concerns clear before accepting or signing anything. If any damages are detected or if in any doubt, communicate your concerns with the delivery person, if possible check whether the contents are intact and unharmed. If applicable please let the shipping company confirm their responsibility and consider your options.

And make sure to inform me of any special needs. Which can be packaging materials, canvas only shipment, or documents. An additional fee for handling, packaging or documentation may apply.

Special needs may include: absorption materials for humidity, limitation on used materials or inspection friendly packaging or special documentation. Please contact me to inform me on beforehand and communicate the details.
